esources First Foundation supports conservation and education solutions to preserve natural resources across the United States and in Southern Africa.

Our principal program areas are:

Support for private land conservation activities in the United States. RFF was the founding organization for the creation and development the Private Landowner Network


Built by RFF to be a companion site to PLN, the Conservation Tax Center was designed to specifically address tax related issues private landowners face during conservation.


RFF developed the Maine State Conservation Center to assist Maine landowners in their conservation efforts.


Supporting collaborative conservation projects across the United States. RFF developed the case study collection site for the 2005 White House Conference on Cooperative Conservation called CooperativeConservationAmerica.org


Support for private landowners whose forests were damaged during hurricane Katrina. RFF developed the Katrina Reforestation Outreach Program to provide forest owners with the necessary resources to begin the recovery process for their land.




The Adopt an Acre / Save a Ranch Program was designed to raise money to help the agricultural land trusts in the West for the purchase of conservation easements on working ranches.




RFF supports conservation projects in Southern Africa. In particular we support the programs of the Wilderness Trust.
Conservation of marine and anadromous fisheries such as salmon, sea trout, shad, sturgeon, and striped bass as well as sea turtles and marine animals.

RFF supports the The North Atlantic Salmon Fund (NASF). The North Atlantic Salmon Fund, NASF, is a coalition of voluntary conservation groups who have come together to restore stocks of wild Atlantic salmon to their historic abundance. Read More »
